"I was bought up in a sports family, so I was introduced to sports at a very young age.
Then I found my love for football, from backyard fun to soccer field practice. I eventually grew up to become a high performing athlete representing NSW, Australia, and Women’s W-league.
Unluckily, all that hard work took a big turn on me.
I had ruptured my ACL, three days out from flying overseas to represent the young Australian girls team.
So, at the age of 19, I had a knee replacement.
From being super fit and healthy, I've been told to stay out of the games for a whole year to allow a full 100% recover!
I was finally reaching my goals and highly motivated to achieve them; step back from a dream wasn't part of the plan.
So, I decided I would work super hard to get my strength and mental health right again and focus on what’s to come.
A year later I was back playing for the Women’s W- league team.
I was stronger than I had ever been. But - again - a year later, I re-ruptured the same ACL while I was playing.
At this point, I chose to take some time recovering from my incident then rush back into surgery straight away.
During this time I decided to take-up on coaching to share my experience with younger players generations.
I wanted to teach the young girls what I had learned over the years I played football.
Taking that step into coaching was mentally high for me, putting my skills and knowledge at use.
Teaching is a great experience which I appreciated as well as being part of the environment and community of the football industry.
As I always say:
You can rise up from anything. You can completely recreate yourself.
Nothing is permanent. You’re not stuck.
You can think of new thoughts. You can learn something new. You can create new habits.
All that matters is that you decide today and take that first step forward."
